Welcome to Caregiving Crisis by me, Emily Fredrix Goodman. I’m a former reporter who now spends my days analyzing and understanding news trends. I’m obsessed with the news and passionate about the caregiving crisis that has emerged in the pandemic. The crisis has been brewing for a year, attracting headlines (“Women account for 100% of the jobs lost in December”) — but there’s been no momentum for true and lasting solutions. The pandemic has shed light, unfortunately, on the U.S.’s fragile infrastructure that leaves women and people of color at a disadvantage to compete in society.

Caregivers have little time to pay attention to these issues that affect them so deeply. That’s where I’ll come in. Each week I’ll answer: What are the latest trends? What are policymakers doing? Who is leading on this issue? What are the stories of these caregivers? And so much more.
